Fall is that time of year that I absolutely love! I love each season because they consistently provide a different harvest based on the decisions made from the previous season(s). It never fails that something that I did last season shows up as an effect in the next.
This past Winter, I asked for a new job. I asked that it would be the job I always wanted and that it would give me a flexible enough schedule to invest more time into the things that are my purpose for living. And yep, I got it!
This Fall, I have now been feeling the push to sit down and rest. I have been learning to resist the urge to always fill the time of my day with completing tasks and getting things done. As a Millennial, I have understood that working harder was not necessarily the best move for me to make but the unlearning of back breaking work is slowly happening for me. The expectation to put more time in working than developing a real relationship with God was seriously feeling like it was moving me further from him than ever before! Who told us that we were suppose to break our backs working for years on jobs until we retire and then are either too old or weak to enjoy the beauty of resting during retirement.
Not me. I am learning to embed REST within my work.
So I made decisions to set goals that would require me to make MAJOR sacrifices to get to the places and things that will allow me to be who I want to be and not who I'm expected to be. Not a girl boss who hustles and is always on the move but a well rested and fresh (from head to toe π) leader.
Let me just say, it has been an investment. Not an easy one by far but one that has yielded sweet fruit for me to harvest.
Lord, let my investment and harvest garner more than just applause and praise from others but let it be pleasing unto You!
What are you planting in this season to prepare for harvest in the next?
